On 17th March 2014, India VS Sri Lanka warm up match of ICC T20 World Cup 2014 has been scheduled. In this match Sri Lanka won by 5 runs. Really bad time for India. After winning the toss, India elected to field first. Indian Bowlers performed well. Sri Lanka lost their 1st wicket on the score of just 25 runs. After that on the score of 65 runs Sri Lanka lost back to back 2 wickets. Indian bowlers took wickets in regular interval. But in last 3 overs, Thissara Perera and Nuwan Kulasekara batted very well and scored 35 runs. Perera scored 18 runs in 11 balls and Kulasekara scored 21 runs in 14 balls. At the end of 20 overs Sri Lanka scored 153 runs. R Ashwin bowled well in this match and took 3 wickets.
India needed 154 runs to win the match. To chase 154 runs is not a big deal for India, But this time India got very bad start and lost early wickets. At the end of 5 overs, India was on 20/2. After that Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh made little partnership. Raina scored 41 runs in 31 balls. After Raina's wicket Indian batsmen lost control and started losing wickets one by one. Yuvraj Singh tried good, but he also out after making 33 runs. In last overs Ashwin and Stuart Binny tried to win the match. But in last over Malinga took 3 wickets and India all out on the score of 148 runs. Sri Lanka won the match by 5 runs against India.
